Teb’s Troops, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization started after Tricia E. Black, or “teb,” as she was known by her friends and family, was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic melanoma. At the time of her diagnosis in May 2005, teb was 29 years old and living in Indianapolis, Indiana, with her husband, Michael, and 9-month-old son, Sam. Wanting to rally her “troops” during her war against cancer and desiring to make something positive come from the negative, Teb’s Troops was organized in August 2005 to provide hope to those affected by melanoma by giving financial support to organizations that support the treatment, prevention, and research of cancer, including melanoma. Last year, our Teb's Troops A Call to Arms Event exceeded its initial fundraising goal, generating over $30,000 in proceeds for the foundation and the organizations it supports. In 2007, contributions from Teb's Troops supporters through fundraising, donations and merchandising exceeded $100,000. Teb's Troops has proudly made general donations to both CancerCare and Melanoma Research Foundation to co-fund two research grants and has funded two separate online support groups -- one for melanoma patients and one for their caregivers. Teb's Troops is committed to continuing its mission of hope in 2008!
